prof. Mieczysław Szlezer

Professor Mieczysław Szlezer was born in 1955 in Cracow. He started playing violin at the age of six and has continued his studies until he graduated from the State Academy of Music in Cracow in the class of his father, prof. Zbigniew Szlezer, famous violinist and pedagogue (diploma with distinction in 1979). In 1982-85 he studied postgraduate studies at Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington (USA) in the prof. Josef Gingolda and prof. Tadeusz Wroński’s classes as well as in Switzerland at the Geneva Conservatory prof. Henryk Szerynga’s class and prof. Franco Gulli’s class in Accademia Chigiana in Siena (Italy).
He is a laureate of international and national violin and chamber competitions. He conducts extensive concert activities as a soloist and chamber musician; He has performed in 28 countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America. Between 1978 and 1987 he was soloist and concertmaster of the chamber orchestra Capella Cracoviensis, and in 1987-2000 soloist and concertmaster of Cracow Philharmonic of Karol Szymanowski. Since 1995 he has been a member of the ARTEMUS piano trio. He has made many radio, television and recordings for “PR iTV”, “Yugoton”, “RAI”, “France Musique”, “Equant – Japan”, “IMC Tokyo”, “STEBO” and “Moderato”. Since 1978 he has been employed at the Academy of Music in Cracow, where he is currently a titular professor. He leads the violin class and chamber music. Between 1996 and 2002 he was deputy dean of the Instrumental Department. In 2002 (also in 2005) he was elected vice-chancellor for foreign cooperation and artistic promotion of the Academy of Music in Krakow.

 

prof. Danuta Mroczek-Szlezer

Professor Danuta Mroczek-Szlezer is a cracow’s pianist and chamber musician who has been working as an academic teacher at the Academy of Music for over thirty years. She is currently a titular professor at the University of Cracow as a full professor. She has held the chair of chamber music for many years and currently she is the head of the Interdisciplinary Pedagogical Department. As a graduate of the Music Academy in Cracow in the prof. L.Stefanski’s class she has perfected her indifference in Weimar and Siena working with R.Kehrer, A.Colcolini and N.Magaloff. She is a laureate of national and international piano competitions. She has made performance in Poland, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Sweden, Kuwait, South Korea and Malta. She has made television and radio recordings for domestic and foreign producers. She is a member of the Association of Polish Musician Artists, Cracow Music Society, the Society of the Karol Szymanowski in Zakopane and she is also a founder and a member of the. F.Liszt Music Society in Wroclaw.

 

dr hab. Bogusława Hubisz-Sielska

Doctor Bogusława Hubisz-Sielska, post-doctoral degree, graduated with honors from the Academy of Music in Cracow, she completed her studies with Stefan Kamasa in Warsaw and in Munich with Kim Kashkashian. She participated in festivals including Poznan Musical Spring, Music Meetings in Baranów Sandomierski, Days of Krakow Composers. She has performed in many cities and towns in Poland as well as in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, USA, UK and Italy. She recorded for the Polish Radio, the Austrian Radio, the Radio New York and the Vatican Radio. She appeared in front of Polish, Austrian and German TV cameras. She made recordings with the music of J.B. Vanhal (AP Classic) and Rachel Knobler and Robert Fuchs (Acte Prealable). With the Composer’s permission, she created the Violin Concerto by Witold Lutosławski (in the original for clarinet and piano). The premiere took place in 1992 in Munich. At the piano accompanied by Mariusz Sielski. She has publishing in “Music Movement”, Music 21. She is the author of Rachel Knobler’s entry in the lexicon Polish Composers 1918-2000. She also conducts editorial activities. The notes of her work appeared in the Polish Music Publishing House and Editio Alto (Germany). She was a member of the National Jury (Cracow 1979) and international competitions (Castellana Grotte / Bari 2004, 2006, 2008). Her recording of Niggun and Elegy of Rachel Knobler was presented on Princeton Radio (USA, 2005, 2006) as a “discovery” in the field of classical music. She is a founding member of the “Muzyka Centrum” Art Association and a member of the German Section of the International Society of Altivolts (IVS). A long-time pedagogue of the Academy of Music in Cracow, graduates of her class operate in the country, as well as in Spain, Germany and Italy, since 2001 is also the Main Coordinator of the Cracow Conservatory of Witold Lutoslawski. She is the Chancellor of the Polish Bachowski Society (since 2007) and the president of the Polish Viola Society (since 2009).

 

dr hab. Mariusz Sielski

Doctor Mariusz Sielski, post-doctoral degree, has studied in the Cracow Academy of Music being in class of Ludwik Stefanski, Ewa Bukojemska and Janusz Dolny (diploma with distinction). He participated in major master courses, under the direction of prominent educators (Alexander Jenner, Rudolf Buchbinder, Eliane Richepin, Fausto Zadra). Study in the Munich Hochschule für Musik. He performs as a soloist and chamber musician, performing in Poland and abroad – Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Russia, Slovakia and the United Kingdom of Italy. He made a lot of recordings. He leads the piano class at the Cracow Academy of Music as an assistant professor. Piano studies under his direction has completed so far a number of groups (26) professionally active musicians operating in Poland and abroad. Among his pupils there are laureates of piano competitions in Austria (Pörtschach), Spain (La Rioja), USA (Los Angeles), Italy (Castellana Grotte, Finale Ligure), Estonia (Narva) and Poland (Szafarnia, Kielce, Cracow, Żagań, Warsaw). He conducts seminars, courses and open lessons. He is the jury of piano competitions in Poland and Italy.

 

Jacek Kociuban

Jacek Kociuban graduated from the Cracow Academy of Music in the cello class of prof. W. Hermana. Since 1995 he has been the concertmaster of the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a senior lecturer at the Academy of Music in Krakow and a cello teacher at the State General Music School in Krakow of F. Chopin in Cracow. He performs in Poland and abroad, several times as a soloist, performing Vivaldi, Brahms and Bruch with orchestra. He is also an active chamber musician. He made a number of recordings of theatrical and film music of such composers as Stanislaw Radwan and Zygmunt Konieczny. He remains in constant cooperation with the recording studio of the Old Theater in Krakow.

 

Igor Czuchraj, tenor, wokalista Filharmonii Krakowskiej

Igor Czuchraj, tenor, vocalist of the Krakow Philharmonic, was born on January 7, 1961 in Zabrze. Since 1964 he has lived in Cracow. He began his education at the elementary music school continued for two years, completing primary education at a local school. After graduation, he continued his studies at the State School of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Wood Sculpture Preservation. From the third grade in parallel he studied at the State Secondary Music School of Władysław Żeleński in Cracow, in the double bass at Professor Zabek’s class. The middle school of music graduated in the singing class led by prof. Zofia Altkorn. After graduation he started working in the Polish Radio and Cracow Television Choir. After 4 years, he has been employed in the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra. During nearly 30 years of work in choir ensembles he has participated in many concerts in Poland and abroad; Throughout Europe and the United States, in opera performances, oratorio-cantatas and many more.

Doctor Dawid Wei Zhang, Artistic Board member, was born in 1982 in the province of Ji-lin, China. He started playing the violin at the age of 5, under the guidance of his father. He continued his education at the Primary Music School and Middle School of Music in Warsaw, where he lived with his family. The next stage of his education was Bela Bartok State Secondary Music School in Budapest, Hungary. After graduating at the local high school, he began studies at the Academy of Music in Lodz under the guidance of prof. Jolanta Kukula-Kopczynska. Since 2003. He continued his studies at the Academy of Music in Krakow where he studied viola in class of prof. Jack Dumanowski, and in F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw in viola class of Stefan Kamasa from which he graduated in 2006 and won the diploma with honors from Polish Culture Department. In 2007 he started working at the Karol Szymanowski State Philharmonic in Krakow. In 2008, he received the first award and the „President of Poznan-Honor Award” at the John Rakowski International Viola Competition in Poznan, in the same year became a member of the team Piazzoforte, Krakow Philharmonic String Quartet and the Polish Viola Society. In 2011, he began doctoral studies at the Academy of Music in Krakow with Prof. Mieczyslaw Szlezer, and graduated.
